Air Cooled HeatAir-cooled coolers are generally divided into two parts: the part in direct contact with the CPU is the heatsink,

which is responsible for drawing heat out of the CPU; the fan is used to force the heatsink to cool down. The fan is used to force the heatsink to cool down the CPU. Through the organic cooperation between the heatsink and the fan, the efficiency of the air-cooled heatsink can be made very high, while the volume is very small and the cost is relatively low.

From the time the CPU starts to heat up, to the time when the heat from the CPU is dissipated through the heatsink that is tightly attached to it,

one of the first problems encountered is the tightness of the bond between the CPU and the heatsink, which is mainly related to the size of the bonding area and the bonding distance.

The larger the bonding area, the faster the heat will dissipate, but since the CPU's bonding area is determined after the CPU is manufactured, the bonding distance is even more important.

Theoretically, the heatsink can be in close contact with the CPU, but in reality there are still gaps between them,at least there is air between them, and the thermal conductivity of air is very poor, which needs to be replaced by something with better thermal conductivity and can be deformed to fill the gaps, which is now commonly used in the silicone grease or thermal tape.

Of course, the ideal situation is to fasten the heatsink to the CPU by means of a well-designed and grippy fastener,

where the contact between the heatsink and the CPU is perfectly parallel to each other to keep the contact surface maximum, and the tiny gaps between them are filled with silicone grease to keep the contact heat to a minimum.
